This fine postcard possibly shows 'HR' beside his Peerless railcar. No date or location although on the vertical right hand edge there is what I assume to be the photographer's studio where this was printed: 'A V( X? Y?) Carmoma. Saltillo' (Saltillo is just below Monterrey in Eastern Mexico) 10101.JPG.jpg |
Reverse of previous P/Card reads;'Rail car which I have driven over 30,000 miles. In previous car which I still have as a spare(?) car I drove just over 90,000 miles. HR' 10102.JPG.jpg |

'Station Hill, Bordon. Kingsway Real Photo Series'. This is in Hampshire b10071.JPG.jpg |
A closer look at b10071 reveals the open truck as LSWR and not SR as initially suspected. Probably standard gauge b10071a.jpg |
A charming station scene in France? Switzerland? and so unlike modern stations which resemble shopping centres rather than railway stations b10072.jpg |

GWR loco, looks like the valleys, not sure whereabouts... b10078.jpg |
Mystery solved: This is 'Pontaillac No4' an 0-4-2T built by Weidknecht in 1891 for the Tramways de Royan (France). 'Pontaillac' being named after the line's original terminus. Seen here being swarmed over by WW2 German troops. (See NGWorld #11 for more on this line) b10079.jpg |
WW2 German soldiers tucking into a field kitchen on a train. The wagon is stencilled 'Stuttgart' (W.Germany) b10080.jpg |
No details but that's an armoured Simplex on the left hand side, developed and used during WW1 and later on many small industrial railways in UK b10081.jpg |
Possibly an LBSCR E1 class loco, photo dated 4.5.46. Used as a homemade postcard and sent from one New-Yorker to another on 14th March 1966 Scan10104.JPG |
The reverse of the last P/Card with a cheeky message:'Dear Bill, many thanks for your notes - to WoR & West Paterson. I complained to the AP about the derailment and they said you were full of ----! However(?) I told them you were a nice guy - not I replied(?) that you were full of ----!!' Scan10105.JPG |
Another LBSCR E1, another homemade P/Card, 'Redhill (Surrey) 1929 611 (111). 111 being the early LBSC number, later 611 and 2611 under the SR. Named 'Montpelier' Built March 1877 Removed from Capital Stock 1911 and lettered 'Loco. Dept. New Cross'. Returned to Capital Stock as Nš611 1922. Withdrawn May 1932 Scan10106.JPG |
